The people of Ontario shall have knowledge of, and access to, respectful, effective, high quality audiology and speech-language pathology services provided by competent self-regulated practitioners.
The purpose of the College of Audiologists and Speech-Language Pathologists of Ontario is to regulate the professions, in the public interest, and to govern its members in accordance with the Regulated Health Professions Act, 1991, the Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology Act, 1991, and the regulations and by-laws adopted by the College.
- To regulate the practice of the professions and to govern the members.
- To develop, establish and maintain standards of qualification for persons to be issued certificates of registration.
- To develop, establish and maintain programs and standards of practice to assure the quality of the practice of the professions.
- To develop, establish and maintain standards of knowledge and skill and programs to promote continuing competence among the members.
- To develop, establish and maintain standards of professional ethics for the members.
- To develop, establish and maintain programs to assist individuals to exercise their rights under the Health Professions Procedural Code the Regulated Health Professions Act, 1991.
- To administer the Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology Act, the Health Professions Procedural Code and the Regulated Health Professions Act, 1991 as it relates to the professions and to perform the other duties and exercise the other powers that are imposed or conferred on the College. Any other objects relating to human health care that the Council considers desirable.
